Promise has been very busy during 2021 delivering the Inspire Project Agricultural training to four community groups in Gombe, Matugah, Kitungwa in Wakiso District and in Mbale District. This has seen many families and farmers learning about key-hole gardening, container gardening, planting, composting, irrigation, pest control and natural remedies alongside a spiral medicinal herb garden.
The training has had a huge impact on the lives of many families and some of their testimonies can be seen on the Testimonies page or by clicking here.
Since training, the community group in Kitungwa have set themselves up to help others by acquiring some land to work together and share their knowledge and experience with others within the community. One of the students has lent the group one acre for a period of one year. They have requested the support of Promise to help them do this and to supply them with the necessary equipment and seeds required.
Promise is now looking to raise funds to supply the families and farmers with suitable tools for their work and is searching for grants to help make this a reality.
In addition to the Inspire Project, Promise launched the ‘Read for Seeds’ challenge for schools is the UK and has been delivering assemblies online to two schools in Devon. The assemblies included comparing life in Uganda and the UK in terms of schools, homes, clothing and food, jobs and set weekly challenges for the children to think about their own lifestyle and that of life in Uganda to raise global awareness.
